Occy On Dancing With The Stars

May 16th, 2011 by Adam

Check out this hilarious video of Occy on the Australian Dancing with the Stars show. Doesn’t the dancer in the video remind you of the little Occy in the movie, North Shore?? Haha, he’s just as bad on Dancing with the Stars as Rick Kane was in the Arizona wave pool! Don’t shred so bad brah, you break your stick. Really, props to the movie North Shore. That was and still is a classic surf movie. It’s a “must have” in your surf movie vault.

NOAA Official Tsunami Website

March 12th, 2011 by Adam

My thoughts and sympathy go out to the people of Japan. Learn more about the devastating earthquake and tsunami that rolled across Japan on March 11, 2011.

A tsunami is a series of ocean waves generated by sudden displacements in the sea floor, landslides, or volcanic activity. In the deep ocean, the tsunami wave may only be a few inches high. The tsunami wave may come gently ashore or may increase in height to become a fast moving wall of turbulent water several meters high (NOAA official tsunami website).

Tsunami Event March 11, 2011 = The Honshu tsunami was generated by a Mw 8.9 earthquake (38.322°N, 142.369°E ), at 05:46 UTC, 130 km (80 miles) E of Sendai, Honshu, Japan (according to the USGS). In approximately 25 minutes, the tsunami was first recorded at DART® buoy 21418. Forecast results shown below were created with the NOAA forecast method using MOST model with the tsunami source inferred from DART® data.

The Nice Rack Expandable Surf, Snow & Wake Rack

February 27th, 2011 by Adam

This truly is a nice rack. I was anxiously awaiting my Nice Rack surfboard rack while checking the surf report. The next thing I know there was a knock at the door and a package with The Nice Rack shipping label on it. I knew the surfboard racks had arrived and my wife was interested to see The Nice Rack. We opened it together and we were both stoked on The Nice Rack. It was almost as fun as opening a wooden crate marked “Fra-gi-le” and finding a leg lamp!

The Nice Rack definitely installs wherever you want it. Install this rack in your home, garage, bedroom, board shops, shaping rooms, or merchandising displays. These racks are a great addition to any board riding enthusiast! You can fit a surfboard, wakeboard and snowboard all on one rack. Where else would you store all those boards? I know I will get great use with this rack.

I received the Surfboard Wall Rack Single 1 Set and I look forward to adding more of the racks (and new surfboards to those racks) haha. That’s the great thing with The Nice Rack. You can easily add extra surfboard racks to your existing rack. Rack expansion has endless possibilities. All you do is snap in the new rack. “It’s a snap!”

The other cool thing about The Nice Rack is they are a green company. So you know you are going green when you ORDER!

  • Nice Racks are made of 100% recycled ABS plastic
  • All packaging and shipping waste are recycled
  • Packaging Materials used for shipping are re-used materials

Surfing A 5-Mile Wave In Alaska? On A River?

February 22nd, 2011 by Adam

This Alaskan tidal bore took place on the Turnagain Arm in the Cook Inlet near Girdwood (Anchorage), Alaska. A tidal bore, or bore tide, is when the leading edge of the incoming tide forms a wave (or waves) travel up a river or narrow bay in the opposite direction of the river or bay’s current. These tidal bores typically happen in areas with large tidal range. When there are large fluctuations in the low and high tides. Typically, 20 feet or so between the low and high tide marks.

The Cook Inlet is one place where a 5-mile ride is very normal. Watch the video to see why!

The Wave Garden

The man-made surfing wave introduced!

The Wave Garden is a man-made wave that creates ideal conditions for surfing, as well as a broadly appealing range of other wave sports such as body boarding, kayaking, and stand up paddling. Early testing and professional feedback show Wavegarden to be the closest thing to an ocean break.
